Tim is a freelance journalist who writes for print, video, and narrative audio. He previously worked as a sportswriter for The New York Times, Sports Illustrated, and Religion of Sports. His stories often explore sports at the intersection of culture, society, and politics.

In audio, Tim has written, reported, and edited several narrative podcasts. At Sports Illustrated, he made Fall of a Titan, a nine-part series re-examining the death of Steve McNair, the former NFL quarterback.

At Religion of Sports, he made False Idol, a seven-part series investigating Oscar Pistorius, the former Paralympian who killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. The Podcast Academy nominated the series for Podcast of the Year and Best Sports Podcast in 2021.

His latest audio project is Volley and Serve, a two-part podcast profiling Sergiy Stakhovsky, a Ukrainian tennis player fighting in the war.

As a print journalist, Tim writes features and investigations. He has served as a beat writer covering the NFL, college football, and the New York Mets. He has also covered the NHL, NBA, college basketball, and the Boston Marathon bombings.

Tim attended the University of Michigan, where he wrote for The Michigan Daily. He lives in Brooklyn, NY.
